Muttiah Muralitharan in ODI squad for England series Sept 18 - Muttiah Muralitharan has been included in Sri Lanka's one-day squad for the series against England. But the selectors said Murali had been picked subject to his regaining fitness.
Murali was ruled out of the ICC World Twenty20 after he sustained an elbow injury while playing for Lancashire last month. He walked off the field with a right bicep strain after bowling more than 33 overs on the first day of the match against Kent on August 28. Though he returned before the close of play, he did not bowl again during Kent's innings. He was expected to be out of action for six weeks.
Dilruwan Perera, who was named Murali's replacement for the Twenty20, is also part of the 15-man squad. Apart from Murali, all the others in the squad are currently in South Africa for the Twenty20.
England tour Sri Lanka for five ODIs from October 1 to 13 and then return two months later for three Tests between December 1 and 22.
Squad: Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Kumar Sangakkara, Sanath Jayasuriya, Upul Tharanga, Chamara Silva, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Jehan Mubarak, Farveez Maharoof, Chaminda Vaas, Lasith Malinga, Dilhara Fernando, Kaushal Lokuarachchi, Muttiah Muralitharan, Gayan Wijekoon, Dilruwan Perera.
